Waxing Poetic

Went to the Doctor today -  I will get some PT over the next month and probably be deemed as good as I am going to get (that's a good thing) when I go back in May.

When I was riding to meet a friend for lunch, I thought back on what a relief it is to be close to the end of this whole ordeal!  They say that the ones closest to you can hurt you the most.  Pretty much everyone know I am a HUGE fan of the Mouse.  That adoration took me down hard though these last 9 months.  I got hurt at Disney on 6/6/15 from that point on I dealt the pain and incapacity that this injury created. In September 2015 I was prescribed Lyrica...  Not a good mix for me woke up during the night not able to breathe right or with consistent muscle control.  It took me 10 days to be able to breathe properly again. Back to my doctor in October and prescribed Gabapentin with instructions that if I had a reaction I was to call 911 and head for a hospital... 4 doses later....   Hello 911?   The EMS people said I was having a panic attack. Really, My face was numb and swollen and I was not breathing right  oh yeah  BP was normal...   Tell me   How is that a panic attack?  I got admitted for the night given IV Steroids and was back to normal in a couple days.  In December, we made the decision for surgery. I  was so happy that FINALLY I would have an end to this pain.  Crap it's the holidays and my doctor was booked 6+ weeks out  GRrrrrrr!  Finally I made it to February 2016...  Surgery month, and it could not have come soon enough for me. I had been living with a swollen, painful foot that made standing and walking and running near impossible to the point that I was in tears from the pain from walking to the back of a Target. That was the beginning of February. FINALLY I was able to have surgery on 2/19. On 2/20 I was taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital for anaphylactic shock.  This would be the second hospitalization. They ran all kinds of tests. The good news is my heart and blood pressure are awesome.  Bad news I was unknowingly allergic to Percocets. There was a point during the night of 2/19 that I woke up and could not move or make enough noise to wake my friend who had stayed with me the night of surgery. I fell asleep and when I woke and was able to move and function I called the Doctor. Yep you guessed it  Call 911 go directly to the Emergency Room do not pass go do not collect $200. What was really cool was I had the same ER nurse as the previous time. Amy was a great nurse and she also remembered me. Admitted again to the hospital with IV steroids and this time take home Prednisone.  When I started feeling better I can't really say as pretty much my whole body was trying to heal. I had 5 incisions to heal plus recovery from the allergic reaction.

Move ahead to stitches removal day.  YAY  I will finally be able to walk again. The knee scooter was really getting old. Stitches come out no problem foot and leg incisions both looked amazing. I was dying to soak in a tub, but alas, I need to wait another 48 hours before getting my foot wet. Grrrrr.  Ok  I had procedure scheduled for my back on that Friday (Stitches were out 3/2) I will soak after...  Ooops  Surgery Center did not have the Xarelto I was on to prevent after surgery blood clots on the list of WARNING PATIENT COULD DIE IF ON THESE MEDICATIONS LIST.  Home I went and decided I could unwrap a couple hours early. Good thing I did, My foot was nasty looking, Dr's office got me in ASAP. Was given oral antibiotics for 1 week (3/4 - 3/11) foot was re-wrapped and in dry dock again. (^*&(^&^$#&^*((!!!!!)  I return to the doctor's office and my foot was worse the infection had spread and it was hot.  This is not the result we were hoping for after a week of antibiotics...  Time to pick a hospital you are being admitted. Palms West became my residence for the next 4 days. I was on Iv Antibiotics and being treated by my surgeon, a gp, and an infectious disease doctor. Infectious disease... This can't be good, right?  Long story short I had MRSA. I was released with Oral antibiotics... after 3 days of IV antibiotics. Saturday was my last day of antibiotics (3/26) My stomach is a MESS, but I m alive and still have my foot and leg.

So in 9 moths I have been hospitalized 3 times, almost died 4 times and now have some ugly scars 2 on my foot, 2 on my ankle and one huge one just below my knee.   Seems it's time to think of some cover art. Have about 6 months to choose... Anyone have any suggestions?
